Here's the thrilling conclusion to a thread started by Greg. http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=13955.msg200086
First off, here's the concept:
At the last minute (literally 30 minutes before going to the luthier) I decided to go with cream pickup covers.
The specs are:
Ash Jazzmaster body
Jazzmaster neck and bridge pickup routing
Jazzmaster tremolo routing
Warmoth pro Jazzmaster neck
Maple neck & fretboard
SS6105 frets
Lollar Jazzmaster p/u in the neck
Lollar P90 in the bridge
Standard Jazzmaster wiring
I finished the wiring this afternoon, just in time to get to Guitar Center before the guitar tech left. Or so I thought. I got there and Ziko (who works for Parsons http://parsonsguitars.com/) actually did the setup while I was there and let me hang out with him and chat about guitars while he was working. He ended up leaving two hours later than he was supposed to since he worked on the JM. Very cool. I was expecting to get the guitar back on Saturday or Monday, but its done today.
This Jazzmaster has easily become my new favorite. I've actually never played a Jazzmaster before and I have to say, I love the rythm circuit. Really adds another sound to the pallate. The Lollar pickups sound incredible and even the split position sounds good. The P-90 really has some meat to it and the Jazzmaster neck pickup "sounds like church" according to one of the Guitar Center guys who played it. Very present but not too bright. Anyway, here's the pics:
