Because theres NO way you could find everything you need to try it out at NAMM... :laughing11: :laughing11: :laughing11: :laughing11: :laughing11:

Hmmmmm, lets remove weight and mass from a Floyd Rose. Don't think it will work well, but somebody will buy them.

But I do love my brass big block.  :icon_thumright:

When it comes to mountain bike frames there's a major difference in ~~~ feeling ~~~ between a cromolly (steel) frame and a titanium frame.

it could be magnesium, seriously though titanium is light but not that light, about 60% that of steel but 2x aluminum.

But not as major as the difference between steel and aluminum.

it's the strength and hardness of the titanium that make it desireable most of the time, and usually people take that "lightness" of titanium and simply make stuff a bit beefier because of it.

and as Dan025 has noted, titanium's electrical properties (eddy currents, dielectric effect) are oftentimes what make it more desireable than steel.

it reminds me. i was in japan and a local music store had metal picks, brass, stainless, nickel silver, aluminum and titanium. i bought one of each out of curiosity. each does have it's own sound  but nothing significant. i can tell the brass (warmest as far as i can tell) from aluminum and the ti has it's own sorta sound but they all pretty much sound like metal i can only tell in a direct a-b comparison. in a bridge i'm sure it has an audable effect but not enough to justify the price. im not sure anyone will say it is superior, just different.

also hand made in that vid makes me laugh. i have made a few Ti parts for aircraft when i was in the airforce and to try to make anything Ti on a bridgeport is a waist of time and manpower. it has some unique properties that make it more difficult than metals of similar hardness. lathe work and drilling is no big deal but if you need to mill it CNC is far superior, and for small deep features EDM is the way to go.

Skeptical, tho I'm no expert on trems and particularly on FR type trems.

One of the endearing things about bridges is that there's a solid mass there to hold ya strings in place and with trem blocks, you also get a good chunk of mass holding the mechanism together. In that vid there's mention of it being light, so would that not be counter productive to sustaining, searing tone? Would think that a whack of solid brass might be better tone wise.

Ed Roman has got to be the biggest hype master this side of Chris Kinman.

I went by his shop when in LV a few years ago & the prices he sells things for are astronomical.

He also sells his own Ed Roman guitars which are standard bolt-ons with nothing special about them for almost $3,000. I can get 2 Warmoths with way better wood & hardware for that price.

The funniest thing was that a lot of the metal parts on the guitars in his store were rusted due to the air conditing system in the store.

He was selling brand new guitars with rusted floyds & screws for $3000.

I saw Ed there in the office & his wife was nice & gave me a bottle of water for free.

if you read his website he says boltons are better, in a set neck you dont know the acoustic properties of the glue or how tight the joint was before it was glued and therefore how much glue is there. i dont disagree but not sure if i'd say it was superior. boltons dont bother me. my strats always sounded great.
dont get me wrong that's about all that i read that makes sence, im not advocating readign the website for anything but a good laugh
