While waiting for my roasted maple telecaster neck to arrive from Warmoth my cat decided to finish off my discretionary funds via surgery. So instead of warmothing the rest of the guitar I decided to buy a thomann t type (T70 or something like that) and rip the neck off it. Curious how this will go.

Anyone bought one of these things? I've heard bad things about the tuners but everything else is supposed to be fine.

The specs I saw had a basswood body which is from the American linden tree which grows in the northeast USA and is a classic guitar wood.    That’s a good start.  In my part of the world I don’t see too much thomann stuff.

Be careful. The body may look like a Tele but the neck pocket may not be standard Fender!

I thought I would get a Harley Benton Tele from them and then fit a Warmoth Superwide neck. Thoman confirmed the dimensions were not the same as Fender. And hence that nice blue Warmoth Thinline body!

Send Thoman an email, they are nice people, I have bought other guitars and assorted stuff from them, never any problems.

My cheap Chinese Tele is the same. Hold the nice Warmoth neck next to it - and that won't fit nicely will it? I would have had to move the bridge to get the scale length right, and do a bit of work on the neck pocket too.

I ordered it anyways. What I've read seems to indicate that some are standard and some are not. See which one I got.

I also have enough ash laying around. Gonna gin up a humbuckery version of a telecaster on the old CNC.

LoL

How is it bozoed? Let's count the ways...

  • Neck pocket of unusual size
  • Adjustment hole nowhere near the center
  • Double shims from factory
  • Shims broken off by hand
  • All holes at a jaunty angle
  • Screw holes at non standard locations
  • Pocket surfaced with an axe
  • Shmoo filled
