This really pisses me off!!

you can all bash GC all day long, but it's a good place to go buy picks and strings in a pinch.  It's also a good place to go play some amps and pedals.

Say what you want, I think they really try to provide a good product and service, but they are a large company, with the baggage that goes with being that big.

We can all jump on the GC bashing bandwagon, or we can be glad that they exist if only to provide an entry point for the masses

It is cool to bash them, but they are often compared to Wal-Mart for no other reason than that the Guitar Center to Mom and Pop store ratio is inversely proportional.  However, in my limited hometown, learning to play experience, there was one Mom and Pop store in my neck of the woods.  They were shadier and greedier.

That's my experience with just about all of them. The local store here in Gaithersburg acts like they're much too busy for any one customer. It's hard to get ahold of anybody to aska  question or get help. The only real way to get anybody's attention is to walk straight up to the counter with expensive guitar in hand. I once ordered a pickup from them and had almost forgotten about it when it finally arrived almost 7 months later.
