Thinline Strat!

So how about a thinline strat? in other words, a strat with hollow "wings" rather than chambers.
I have the feeling that my thinlines are a little more resonant than my chambered strats. I have never played the thinlines on full volume, so I don't know if there would be any feedback issues.

I would get one! :)

(how about that carved top strat! :))

I'm a sucker for anything with an F-hole, so I'll give a +1 on this.

Actually, I think a thinline Strat might make a very fine 12-string, as due to the position of the strap button on the long upper horn it would be less likely to be neck-heavy than a thinline tele.

7/8 thinline yes! but flat top too. Carved is pretty, but I hate angled neck pockets.

im pretty sure that angled neck pockets have to do with the bridge. the TOM/STP, Gotoh 510, Schaller 456, and the floating floyds require angld pockets but i dont think that whether or not the top is carved determines the angle of the pcket.

I'll support anything with an f-hole! *cough cough...*

But seriously, that's a neat idea. Mmmm, flat top+f-hole, that could very well make a bearable str*t!

Agreed! Specially on the carved top Strat! Just a hint. I think it would be better if the carved on a Strat were more like on a LP and Ibanez S than it:

Well, I say sometihng very alike Warmoth did on carved top tele, the curving is one line only, smooth... with no "brake" in the curving like this one has :tard:

My opinion has changed so much over the months. sometimes i would hate f-holes, other times without them a guitar would seem bare and crap. im totally on the fence with them, hit or mis. i think with a mahogany back f-holes are just complete the look that it is something a bit unique and have the antique woody feel.

i absolutely love that carved top strat... take note, warmoth! the carved top tele is the sh*t, and that strat would be a great match for it!

warmoth already has a carved top double cutaway, whats wrong with a vip?

A VIP is a VIP a Strat is a Strar... some guys prefer first and others prefer the second, as a costumer, I can't see problems in having MORE options... The many more options, the better... don't you think?

The break in the curving like this Strat and VIP allows for more bridge options.  Not that anyone would want to, but you can't get a flat mount Strat hardtail bridge on a Carved Top LP but can on the VIP and CT Tele.  I say keep the break in curving just for the flat mount bridge.

+1. i think a whole lot of people would be upset if you couldn't use a tele bridge with a carved top telecaster

I believe they can make it for these bridges you said with the carved as I said, is just not making a huge carved... and letting the middle of the thing flat... It's hard to explain what is in my mind in words, specially in english... sorry...

I know exactly what you mean, but the LP is curved on top whereas the VIP and CT Tele aren't.  If ain't already programmed into the CNC, they ain't gonna do it.  So no flatmount bridges on LPs.  Again, why would anyone want to?

when i made my first order it was set to be a carved top soloist with a recessed tune-o-matic (rec.tom if you will :icon_biggrin: ) but it wasn't do-able because of the carved top. i was kind of surprised, but i guess the carved top can cause problems (maybe strings hitting or getting close to the carved top, or the bridge's intonation screws would be impossible to get to for adjustment).
