LOL, that’s funny, I just decided to do that same thing on my current HSS Soloist with only 2 knobs. 2 Volume and no Tones. We don’t need no stinking tone knob…. (Except for P90’s).

It must be all the rage. My new Dinkycaster build has no tone knob either.

Everyone knows tone comes from playing harmonic minor scales at light speed through a Marshall stack.

Spent the morning ordering hardware - Cosmo Black Gotoh from head to toe. Heavy inspiration from this thread, but I wanted a bit of shiny:

The only part I can’t seem to source in cosmo black / black nickel / black chrome / ruthenium are the top ferrules. I was even able to find a matching toggle switch (Hosco) and jack (PureTone). If anyone has a lead on some matching top ferrules, let me know! (just kidding, @ragamuffin helped me score some!)

Of course the most important question: what pickups???

oh look at you Hodgo!

Well technically we won't be all the way there till you sand and finish a body
There’s a reason I paid the W for a clearcoat on this build… I actually want to play it some day 😎👉👉

I thought you were admonishing me for my specs given the half dozen times I’ve alluded to shredding as self-indulgent weedlyweedly nonsense.

To either point I say: it’s my midlife crisis and I’ll do as I please!

Zero admonishment or intent just ribbing you bro!

Hmmm… Lollar Low Wind Imperials, Fralin Big Singles? Maybe some EBMM Valentine style pickups?

Im thinking of this as a Tele that studied abroad in Sweden and came back speaking fluent neoclassical and with a penchant for Scandinavian cabinetry. Minimalist in design, maximum function. I don’t much care for ultra hot humbuckers, even for high gain, but I don’t want any 60 cycle hum from a Tele-in-HB-format style pickups. More of that PAF “Tele on Steroids” thing.

Also - treble bleed? Or just K.I.S.S. vol>jack.

Love the Gotoh Cosmo black. That’s the tuners I have on Purple Haze.

I vote Treble Bleed.

I found some cosmo black top string ferrules on Reverb, they're asking too much for them but maybe you could talk them down

The Big Singles sound interesting! I thought about those in a build a couple years back. Another cool option for a "super tele" might be hum-sized Firebird pickups like Lollar "The Bird", some other winders make similar pickups

Thank you!!! Offer made.

I do love a good Firebird pickup, I have a killer set of Kleins in mine. I’ll give those a listen!
