I am working on my second build, another Tele. I'm on a tighter budget than my first (here: http://www.curiomusic.com/pages/dragon_tele.php) in which I spent about $1600. This new one will only be about $1000.

This will be a 'stripped down' tele, not as many bells and whistles, but still cool nonetheless.

I always wanted a black tele. What I liked about this one is the clear mask binding and the fact that it is also chambered.

Just ordered the parts a couple days ago. Will post updates. Wish me luck! :)

I love natural bindings.

I'll beat Nando to it this time,

"Cool!"

Yes, natural bindings rule  :headbang1:
Simple, yet sweet tele...
Good luck on your build &  :rock-on:

If you use a pickguard a all maple neck will look cool...

But if you use black hardware and no pickguard a neck painted in black with ebony fingerboard would be killer

Ra! I'm not a master of the words at all :P

And this is going to be cool, yes!
What neck is going on this???

No harm, mate! I love your comments. Makes me feel like there is still a true optimist in the world,  :occasion14:.

I may need to think about, because people that know me in real life always tell I'm a pessimist and etc...

Just get a shirt with this on it, ->  :)
and say Cool!, Neat!, Great!, and Awesome! often.

Re: parts -- The pickguard you see pictured ("vintage pearl"), plus mostly vintage-style chrome hardware, though I will slowly upgrade that to gold as I get the money. One thing definitely not vintage will be the pups... Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders.

@ =CB=:  Man, my kids and I LOVE that song.  I have a version by Link Wray, and another by the Hellecasters, and they are both in constant roration on the car stereo.

@ Sonic Wizard, stripped down Tele is what Tele is all about.  This one should be a serious looker, though, on top of that.  Nice.

Should look and sound great  :glasses9:

that's the color scheme i love. it NEEDS gold hardware. if you can get pickups with gold plated polepieces it really looks eyecatching.
thats how i want to do a strat one day. real classy look.

Ha ha. Indeed. I agree on the gold hardware. Due to budget, I'll be doing a mix of chrome and gold hardware... might look a little funny at first, but I'll upgrade to all gold in time. Gold-plated polepieces?! I've never seen that. Super kewl! I'll have to keep my eyes open for that.

I did a summer program at Berklee College of Music years back and in one class sat next to a guy who had a strat like that - or at least I remember it. I do know the pickups had gold topped polepieces. It was black with that vintage pearloid pickguard and gold hardwear and that tinted neck. oh man was it sexy. The guy was into RnB and that guitar just screamed "soul"

Pics here... a few dozen of them...

I've got the ferrules in (DON'T do it the way I did it)... Neck bolted on (though I will replace the chrome neck plate with gold)... and the copper shielding adheared in the cavities (which was cool and fun to do; nice trick I learned from Dan Erlewine's Fender wiring DVD).

More to come... but I thought I'd share where I am so far. I'm very excited about this build!

Nice slide show of your progress...
She is gonna be a real looker  :glasses9:

I could not really tell from the pic what damage was caused to the finish from the overheating during the string ferrule install.
I am getting ready to do the same to my firebird.  Does the finish get all bubbly when it gets too hot?  What should I look for when the damage starts?
