Well, Dietrich, I found your first post to be a bit hot, but not out of line. You had a set of expectations that were not in line with the reality, and were given a none-to-gental reply. Its perfectly reasonable that you would be a little miffed by that.
When you look at what Warmoth does, you develop some natural assumptions about what they can do for you. When you call, you generally find out that some - maybe a lot - of those things are not on the table. Once you understand what they do and what they wont do, you then can decide if they are right for your project. Then you hang around the board here for a while, and low and behold one of those things they "don't do" shows up in the showcase :icon_tongue: I guess its just the nature of a custom business. There are things they can do as a one off that they just cant do even at the custom order level I suppose. Personally I wanted my LPS body bound in perloid, but when I called to order I was told only natural mask binding was available on that body. A couple of days later I saw a LPS in the showcase bound in black :icon_scratch: Say la vee (i don't know French).
Let me say, I have speced out, ordered, and assembled one Warmoth guitar, and I will be doing more in the future. That said, your first conversations with Warmoth can be a bit jarring when you don't know the lay of the land. Especially if those communications are via email. I sent 3 or 4 during the course of my specing and ordering that went unanswered. I wasn't offended, I just called and got my questions answered. But to be honest, yes their pre-sales support, especially via email could be better. That said, I'm sure they do get hundreds upon hundreds of emails a day and they do the best they can.
Warmoth is a great company with great products, and are quite acceptable to deal with (by my standards), but they do have their warts, just like any business. Its sad that some guys here act like you are killing their baby if you make the slightest criticism.
