I just got back from the postal service where I picked up my new body and neck.

I have most parts now and will start the assembly soon and post that under a new A Work In Progress thread.

Until then, I give you:

New parts, congratulations.

Mustangs always make me think of Status Quo, as the original bass player used a Mustang Bass.

Thanks.

You're right. I forgot about Alan, what's his name?
I once played bass in a band (before we got another bass player and I could do what I do best) and used a borrowed Daphne Blue (?) Mustang bass. Proper heavy metal in the early eighties with that kind of bass! Pretty funny now that I think back on it. :laughing7:

Killer top.  That will certainly be unique.  What bridge?  Smart move to say away from the Fender whammy.

That's really beautiful. What a top! Can't wait to see this one go together.

Thanks guys! Yes, this will be quite spectacular I think. And pretty uncommon with that type of top on a Mustang.

The bridge will be this from ABM.

That's a mighty fine bridge. Looks like a good design. Looks like it can be either string through or top loading. I take it you'll make it string though since the holes are already there.

Looks familiar... seems like I have that exact body & neck around here somewhere, but I can't find them now.

I will actually do some experiments with this. There's that old discussion about string through vs top loaded. "Which is better?" I thought I'd try both. I've actually some notion about mixing it up. Wound strings going through the body and the plain top loaded or vice versa.  Could be fun.
But the most important thing for me is that the bridge allows me to have the distance between the strings a litte more narrow a'la TOM. 52mm from E to E suits me perfectly where as 55 mm is a little too wide for me.

Beautiful collection of parts, keep them pix a-cum'n!  :headbang1:

I like that bridge, what route did you order to accommodate it? looks like just the string through holes.

I'm snapping pictures as we speak  :icon_thumright:

I ordered string-through only and plan to drill the mounting holes myself. It's four holes parallell to the string-through holes about 7mm behind them;

It was Alan Lancaster.

Interesting that you played a Mustang bass before perhaps it means you can call this a Logrinncaster or something...

Just in case some of the folks don't know what we are talking about....

I like mammaries, too. Especially so, what with me being a mammal and all. Instinctive attraction.
