Haha!  Grew up on these (reruns lol) and will defend the quality and content of cartoons from the 40's-late 50's; ain't nothin' like 'em!

it can't be overstated how tremendous the various studio orchestras were.  The level of musicianship from MGM and WB etc.. was off the charts.  Those guys could flat out play anything with style and flare.

No doubt. But, back then, a lotta sound tracks were live and spontaneous. They had to be good. There was no second take.

Indeed.  I read a recent-ish interview with Steve Lukather in which he related how he did a TV date back in the late 70's and got high at lunch time - first and last time he ever did that.  Fortunately for him, Lee Ritenour was also on the date and handled his parts for him.  Definitely no room to screw up.
