The Long Ride

The Long Ride guitar instrumental is for a change an own song. He took me on a weird journey until it take shape. Definitely not a quick one ...

Speed run addicted players will be disappointed. It has a kind of atmosphere,I like to dive into. But I guess this songs tends to polarize.

The sound of the leadpart caused me some headaches, until it fits for my taste. My Marshall JVM410 have repeatedly deployed:
The tone of my Warmoth H-S-H in the single Coil neck position together with the Crunch Orange mode has a lot of tonal ground for me.
I also used a Tube Screamer with Drive at zero and the level around 5 to boost the amp for a bit more sustain while still remaining in a  rather clean tonal area.

I recorded the leadpart in one take. Around 1/3 is improvised. Took me roughly 20 attempts  :icon_biggrin:

It was important to me that the song has a musical consistency. I more and more develop a taste to underline my recording with appropriate video material. At the end of the day: it is pretty time consuming, but still a lot of fun for me :icon_biggrin:

Looking forward to receiving your feedback:

Very nice. Very tasty. :icon_thumright:

My girlfriend really liked the video. She's a train driver herself and used to that kind of view of the tracks, but not with that kind of vista. Norway, I presume?

Hello Logrinn,

thanks for your nice feedback :icon_thumright:

Yes, the train ride is from Norway (the red houses are typical for Norway). I think this view together with the "right" music somehow opens up heart and soul. So your girlfriend should be a happy person  :)

Hi Frank,

thanks for your feedback :)

I catch myself repeatedly listening / watching which is unusual to me. Definitely cheaper than any sedative tablets  :icon_biggrin:

Hi Mayfly,

I am glad you like it  :)

The footage is a documentary train ride between Bergen on the Norwegian west coast, crossing the mountains to the capital of Oslo. The documentary of almost 7 1/2 hours was filmed by NRK in 2009: Norsk RikskringKasting (Norwegian State Broadcasting).

The train footage is free for private usage. For more information please visit: http://nrkbeta.no/bergensbanen

Train rides (or car rides on mostly straight roads) have a kind of meditating element.

I am curious to see the result. Have fun fun :headbang:
