Welcome the runt of the family!

I knew these were small, but 'in the flesh' it seems tiny. Sure is funny looking too.

I'm planning on visiting all kinds of cruelty upon this little 3 pound nothing oddball so, with the speed I get things done, it definitely will be a long and winding road. I'll start a Work in Progress thread when there is some...

Cagey, before you jump on me for the 6-hole trem rout, that was a cost and aesthetics-related decision. It's a showcase 'any trem' body because I wanted it fast and cheap (I find this a recipe for success in most areas of life). The trem will be completely blocked anyway and a vintage(ish) look works better for what I have in mind...

Finally, obligatory shot of the back of the body...

Was that tumbleweed? I knew if I worked just that little bit harder I'd find a way of shutting you all up!

Well screw you guys, if you don't like it now, you'll hate it later...

:icon_biggrin:

Hahaha I like it. It is super small looking. What kneck you using? Maybe a short scale? It is a cool looking body. :occasion14:

Its one of those bodies that has always interested me,and with unlimited cash and space I'd have. It does look small and I'm a sucker for small bodies. But I'd go the other way. On a baritone it'd look like a battle axe

Ya that is a great thought. It would be like an battle axe. Ha I think I may like that look better!  :laughing3:

What color is it going to be?

Hmm, maybe baritone is the way to go. If I put a CBS or Jazzmaster headstock on there you'd have some work figuring out which end was which!

As the bridge location is fixed, I'm limited to standard or conversion necks (knecks?!) - Mustang/Jag necks are out, as are 7/8s - which is a shame because I'd probably go with the 24" scale if I could.

As it is, because of my strange plans for this project, an overhanging fretboard will make things more difficult (and/or aesthetically problematic) so a standard 25.5" 21-fret Warhead is most likely - this one's a candidate for roasted maple.

Front-runner finish-wise at the moment is lake placid blue but everything is subject to change...

ROFL.

This is actually causing wheels to turn. Next guitar is gonna be a hard sell, have to sneak it in piecemeal.  I've sorta been kicking around a baritone single pu. Toying with the idea of moving the bridge pickup back towards the neck just a smidge - if you overlay shots of the routed pickup and the index hole in the builder - and move the bridge pickup to just cover the index hole - it's moving the bridge pickup about 1/2 to 3/4" closer to the neck, which I think would help with better clean tones.  My last build had a trem I didn't want, and blocked. I'm torn deciding if I actually want this to be the machine with a trem, or if I'm really a hard tail guy to the core. I do think it would be fun to have ONE on a semi-shred machine. But after a little bit of playing with it I didn't really use it. I think it's kind of like slide, in that I can appreciate other people using it, and that's enough.

Lake Placid Blue is a very nice shade that I like a lot, but it's Warmoth's "metallic", which is just a slightly finer grit of metal flake. Still looks like a carnival ride. For only a few bucks more, you can get essentially the same shade (albeit a tad darker) in Candy Blue. Much more classy, and less likely to be encountered at Coney Island.

I'm on the same road with this one brother! (you know you still have to build your baritone, right?)

Cagey, you know I don't need convincing about Warmoth's candy finishes - I'd be happy to house the full set (if you're not getting much use out that candy tangerine one of yours I'm sure I can make room). But as this one is already on this side of the Atlantic in its alder birthday suit, a Warmoth finish is out.

Yeah, everything is either shrinking or growing in this house. Baritone acoustic, 25" scale P-bass, 4 string BEAD basses. Baritone is tuned to C#, 4 and 5 strings basses are tuned to C. All the guitars are tuned to Parallel fourths,. Maybe i need a tele in standard tuning just to have one  foot in the real world. Nah, it was kinda boring last time I checked in. (The real world that is)

Can't wait to see what you got cooking here.

I'm sorry - I lost track of the thread. For some reason, I thought we were talking about a potential vs. actual piece. In review, I see I'm out of order. Especially considering your existing Tele; a gorgeous piece. You probably wouldn't want another one, at least not right away.

I agree with the idea of getting a full candy set. Maybe I'll buy a lottery ticket this weekend...  :icon_biggrin:

I've gotten a number of offers on that Candy Tangerine Strat. Everybody loves it. For those who are on the edge about a candy finish - Warmoth does an incredible job on them. The pictures don't do them justice at all. Not even close. In real life, they're absolutely gorgeous. Well worth the added cost.

I'm of the opinion that it needs a pointy headstock of some kind.  Either the original Arrow, or something like the Arcade or Xbird.  It's such a cool little shape!

Yeah, too bad baritone headstocks are limited to Chocolate and Vanilla. Arrow's not on the list.  Even CBS is a nogo in a baritone.

The Warmoth, Vortex, Warhead, Regal and Arcade headstocks are all available as baritones in the builder and it may be worth giving W a call to check if they could do others as a special.

Nah. If I did that I'd feel like I actually had to order the darn thing.
