The Heart-Attack Paul Needs Pickups!

Alright, so many have probably seen Tonar's thread on finishing my new LP body and neck. It's finally here! And looks better than I could have imagined.

It needs pickups! It'll be getting some after my next payday, and until then I can torture myself with questions and second guessing myself. Anyway this has always been my favorite guitar forum (or forum in general), so I ask you, UW, what pickups?! I've pretty much already decided on Dimarzio 36th anniversary bridge and neck. Of all the sound clips I've listened to they're my favorites. Plus the fact that I can get both at the cost of one boutique pickup definitely doesn't hurt any.

First choice creme, second choice chrome (actually I'd try and go with nickel if possible.)

my choice was easy: I think Nickel covers would look AMAZING with that LP, would really add the the gorgeous "vintage" vibe I get from the whole thing. I think any of the other open-coil options would just cheapen the look. that's my $.02  :headbang:

That thing is screaming for creme!

Everyone has chrome covers on their LPs, and I've never cared for the look. Black is dull as dishwater.

naw I'm gonna fight for chrome!! I think it would look way more classy than creme or black, or even black & creme....

actually, I would vote Chrome(nickel) covers first, then Black&creme coils second, I don't like Slash or G&R, but I think the black/creme humbuckers actually look cool on certain LP's

If you can get a good match to that binding, I would definitely go with a cream/vintage white...

Otherwise I would go nickel with matching rings.

I have to go with STCD on this one.  Nickel w/creme rings would be perfect, especially if you can match the binding.

+1.  Any covered pickup is just gonna add to the slick look of that guitar.

I like the chrome. But you should average those pole pieces  - a single row of 6 in the middle would be better!

BUT .... this thing shoots down any Gibson.

If it is up to me, I go with black.  Or chrome/nickel.  If I am making it for what I play, more of the rock vibe, then black.  The pickup contrasts with all of the binding and appointments, making you see everything on the guitar.  If I am going for the classy vibe, reserved and always dressed for an occasion, then it is chrome or nickel.  With the white ones, it is too much white and I think is gets a bit overdone.  However, it is for you, so have fun.
