It's not the 5 measly bucks that matters. It's the perception. People always look at the most significant digits first, so $1,499 sounds a lot cheaper than $1,500, because there's a $100 difference between $1,400 and $1,500.

I know :) but I'm still getting used to my role as 'business man'. I don't WANT TO BE a business douche. I wanna be a guitar builder.

Sooooo...........a lot of upstart builders will send out a "traveling" guitar (actually, Schroeder is the only one I know of). Just sayin :dontknow:

Actually this is fairly common in the acoustic luthier world. I had an acoustic luthier offer to lend me what if commissioned, would be a $9000 guitar.

I've not heard of that, but I guess I'm not surprised. Most people probably wouldn't lay out that kind of dough on a lick and promise. They'd want some physical evidence.

I had a dealer let me take a really nice PRS home for a week to make sure I'd be happy, but we were friends so I don't think that counts.

Incidentally, I ended up buying a Levinson Blade instead. Damn nice guitar. Wish I still had it.

Orpheus, I just really want to say that I love what you're doing, and that I hope to follow in your footsteps and market some sort of stringed instrument in my lifetime, and that the whole Gibson/Fender hybrid thing resonates with me.  I love Teles with neck humbuckers, those odd Gibsons with single coils...and I really love the whole "Nighthawk" scene...so needless to say, I'm envious our your Tele/LP designs...Keep up the cool work!
