Bête Noire, my lovely lady, is being parted out.  I don't play her, and I gotta clear out some guitars if I'm going to be permitted to continue building 'em.

So:

I will offer buy-it-now pricing for $285 plus shipping to any USA or Canada member of this forum with over 100 posts, as long as your bid comes in before any eBay bids exceed that.  Paypal is my coin.

The neck is going up, too, and I will post once the listing is up.

I just put my Canary neck on ebay. I felt a little bad but just never really fell in love with it, especially after I got some of my other necks. I felt a little guilty after it being a winner here  :) Makes me feel a bit better seeing others doing the same. It is a beautiful guitar Ian. Someone is gonna be stoked. Goodluck!

Well now, that's what I call a damn shame! Another Icon bites the dust...sorry to hear it, Ian!

I understand the need to cull the herd. I don't understand why you don't play her.

I keep on returning to my green mahogany tele and cannot put it down.  Bête Noire is a good guitar, and a beautiful guitar, but I like my DIY-hunk with the trashed finish better.  And the amount of time I spend playing the 'Hog vs. the Beast is all I need to know when I decide who gets cut from the team.

I guess I can understand that. My finest fiddles get very little use and a few have been sold as a result. No sense taking up real estate with things you don't use. And for as much as I malign "relic'd" guitars, I think I need a whipping boy. Nice lightweight Strat with gnarly pickups on it, all beat to hell but playing/sounding like a dream.

Oh, my green 'Hog ain't "relic'd."  I could never be as affected as all that.  It's just beat to shit.  It wears a lacquer finish with no pickguard, and I keep my pickin'-hand nails long.  Front is correspondingly chewed to hell.  And of course I believe I have related elsewhere in these pages that my wee boy took after it with a wooden mallet one fine day, leaving a nice little pattern of dings on the forearm-rest-area.  I leave it out all the time instead of casing it so I can just grab it and get busy.  Dings, nicks, dents, etc., etc., etc.

But the real thing is the canary/ebony neck with stainless frets, and the Roadhouse P90's.  The guitar just speaks in a voice I love, and plays like a dream.

I will say this, though:  I'm looking forward to repurposing the Quarter Pound bridge pickup from Bête Noire in a future build.  It makes the blasphemous HONK that I like.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!

The neck for Bête Noire is up for sale too.  Locking Planet Waves autotrim tuners installed.  Be the first on your block, etc., etc.

I'm so sorely tempted by this... And my birthday's just around the corner to boot. Lemme just check on the status my bank account. Oh.

Also, the bit about the mallet has me reconsidering the living room, also known as Junior's Domain, as a suitable home for the Gretsch. :tard:

Get a wall hanger.  Install it about a foot higher than you think is reasonable.  Put up an electrified fence and a moat around it.  Should be fine.

The body listing expires in seven hours as of this writing, i.e., around 4:30PM Pacific time (USA).

The neck listing runs until tomorrow at about 7:30PM.

Both parts are sold.  Some fella in Boston, and a dude in Chile by way of a forwarder in Miami.  May they derive great pleasure from these components of one of the classiest guitars I ever held in my own two hands.
