Yeah, the Doozy stuff is very, VERY spendy.    But like you say, for a one-time purchase, might as well get what you want.  I doubt whether I'd spring for their pickups at $175 a pop, however.  Having played a couple Doozy's at my local shop (Sylvan Music, Santa Cruz, EXCELLENT place), I'd say they're lovely guitars for folks with cash to burn.  This boy is somewhat challenged in the burnable cash department for the foreseeable, though.
