Hey guys, I had a project in mind (don't we all?) and I was wondering if I could fit an area t pickup in the bridge position of a strat. Can I sorta jam it into the pickguard, cuz I was hoping that I could get a 6 hole trem instead of a tele bridge. Bottom line... WILL IT FIT?

Several people make 'tele-sound' strat bridge pups though, but I'm skeptical because 1) you don't have the big baseplate and thicker bobbin of a tele and 2) you don't have the big bridge plate doing whatever it does to the magnetic field and 3) Lollar said they don't really work that well.

i'm not terribly interested in strat pups that try to sound like tele pups... I'm settled on the area t for sure.

So I can do some extra routing in the body and drill some holes in the pickguard for the tele mounting screws. I'm ok with extra routing under the pickguard (because you won't see it) but the idea of modifying the pickgaurd makes me uncomfortable. I'm not completely set on a pickguard though so maybe there are some other ways to do this. Can I use half a tele bridge to mount the pickup and have a 6 hole trem on the same guitar?

hmmm, well... yeah... My main problem is that I won't be using a tele bridge to mount the pickup... I'll have a six hole trem. what can I do to mount the pickup if it wont go in the guard or in the bridge?

I like the tonering idea alot, but $64 dollars seems pretty stiff for half of a bridge. Has anybody hear ever made a tonering from an old tele bridge or got the same sorta thing somewhere for cheaper?

Cutting down an old tele bridge should work fine - alternatively just get a flat plate cutout for the pup

Next alternative is simply contact pickguardian and have them make you a USA compatible strat pickguard with a tele bridge cutout. I'll bet they already have a template for it. You still won't have the hunk of metal to influence the pickup's tone for what that's worth.
