Tele question (probably a dumb one)

Lately I've been dreaming of a Tele. Nothing too fancy, but I do want a mini-humbucker in the neck. The body builder lets you have mini-hum routes in the body and pickguard (in my case a Thinline or hybrid PG), but the two don't line up: the PG rout is too close to the bridge.

So what if I got a regular humbucker rout in the neck to free up some space, then simply mounted the mini-hum in the PG as usual? If need be, I could even expand the rout, since it would all be covered by the PG anyway. Am I crazy for not seeing anything wrong with this idea?

And why don't the two routes line up anyway? :icon_scratch:

If you are relying on the builder images to determine whether the pickup cavity lines up with the rout on the pickguard, forget it - the problem the builder solves is "what is this likely to look like," NOT "how well will this fit?"  A Warmoth pickguard should fit a Warmoth body routed for the same pickups.  To allay any doubt you might have, call Warmoth.

True. The first time I tried this I got an error message to the effect that the routs were incompatible or somesuch. That didn't happen just now when I tried again just before posting. Oh, the wonders of technology.
