Tele Bass Control Plate Option on Hybrid Strats

With the Hybrid Strat you guys are SOOOO close to duplicating the Squier 51 body type, but the one thing that's missing is the option of routing for the shorter tele bass control plate instead of the traditional telecaster one. Seems like a pretty easy option to add - why not do it?

The problem with those control plates is that they only have two holes for pots. That is not desirable to everyone.

It's possible that if you're not the first person to ask for it, that very few have. Even simple changes to the CNC programming that routes bodies are not as trivial as you might imagine, so there has to be some real market demand for a feature before they'll invest the time in preparation to provide it. Gotta get that time investment back, and the only way to do that is with sufficient unit sales.

Sometimes they'll do things "off-line". That is, they'll pull a body out of sequence and do something to it manually that they normally don't offer via the automated "Builder". Some of their bridge routes are that way. But, the only way to find out if they'll do it is to call.

Another thing to consider is that a brand-spankin' new Squire 51 is only $179. You could buy one and throw away everything but the body and still end up cheaper than a custom body. Unless, of course, you were looking for some exotic wood.
