Hi

This is a LP/SG flavoured Stratocaster. I have set everything up for the project and I´ll begin working on it tomorrow. I hope it will be finished in a week or two. :)

Hi

I just installed the tuners this morning. I have done this few times before, so no problems there. Later today I will install the Wilkinson bridge, string up and see what it does.

Hi again!

Here are 3 options I am thinkin of, what do you think? I know I can change it later, but nice to hear your views? :)

Option 1: Black rings, chrome knobs and black or mabye cream tip:

Option 2: Cream rings, chrome buttons and cream or black tip:

Option 3: Black rings, ivory buttons and black tip.

PS: I´m not sure if I like the recess for the tremolo, I should have picked regular rout, I think there is too much gap.  :icon_scratch:

For god's sake go all black / chrome! Are you kidding? OR go all cream, sheesh. Never mix and match black and white plastics on a guitar. The metal needs to be one color, the plastic bits one color.
BTW that thing looks really truly awesome.

That body wants my Ivory EMG 58's. That would be sexy with the ivory knobs and tip and no pickup rings.      I'll make you a good deal. :headbang1:

You guys keep it up and it'll turn into a one-eyed, one-horned, pigeon-toed, over-growed flyin' purple people eater <grin>

Hi

Thanks for the comments. I went with creame rings and tip and chrome knobs....it looks great. :)

I have been working on the guitar since early this morning, with few short breaks, and I will finish it tomorrow. I have the wiring left (already installed the pots, swich and knobs), and file the not slots to right height.

I have done a rough setup on it and it plays great, the 59 profile is fine, but I still prefer standard thin.

Accoustically it is also great, but a little different than my other guitars, but the sound is very light and rings out more......mabye the cambering or the Wilkinson bridge......what ever it is I like it. :)

I have a feeling this will be my number one guitar, at least for a while. Eyyyyyy  :icon_thumright:

She is looking great
Makes me Jones for that burst on a Tele

I set my electronics on a dummy board to solder them and drop them in when it is time to solder in the pickup leads, that way I am moving the body all around or accidentally dropping something on it.

Just a thought

WOAH!!!  :o

I just ruined the nut.....I cut the B string slot way too deep. Fortunatly I had a spare Graphtech nut for Fender. I had to sand the sides to make it fit, and when I had sanded the bottom a bit, It was just the right height for the strings so I did not have to file the slots. The new nut is much nicer than the one that came with the neck, and the open stings ring out clearer, they were a little choked before. And this guitar will for sure need string trees(s), I was hoping to get away with not using them, because my Tele didn´t need any......but I got the vintage trees, they are nice. :)

I just ordered the spare nut from StewMac 2 days ago....I was going to use it for a Strat I have, but that will have to wail untill I get another....mabye I order a few to have spares.

PS: The nut slot on the Warmoth Pro neck has flat bottom, but Fenders do have radius bottom slot. It´s good to know when you order nuts. :)

Hi

Ok....everything is done but the wiring. I think I will do the wise thing and do that tomorrow......mabye tonight if I can´t wait. ;)

The accoustic quality of the guitar is fantastic, pretty loud and almost like a semi hollow body.....the notes have kind of shimmering quality to them....very differnet, but I like it.

I will do the fret level some other time, but the guitar is setup and plays well all around the neck...better than most my guitar, but they all need some fret job anyway....I´ll do them one by one when I feel like it. :)

One minor bug is when i play some notes specially the C not on the G string the tremolo springs give out a strange ringing sound and it resonates through the body. I can´t see what causes it.

It happens. The vibrato springs have a resonant point to them and will vibrate in sympathy with certain notes/chords. What some guys do is get some 1/4" surgical tubing, and slide it inside the springs. It has a deadening effect, so the ringing sound goes away. It works well, because it expands/contracts with the springs as you use the vibrato. Also, because it's silicone, it lasts a very long time.
