Strat neck on a Tele body

Howdy, all...

First post here.  I'm getting ready for a new build (my first was a Soloist build 11 years ago).  I'm planning a 72 Thinline/Deluxe hybrid.  `72 thinline Tele body in Sonic blue mated with a QSawn maple CBS Strat neck.  What I was wondering is if someone could post pictures of the body/neck joint if you have done a similar build.  I know that you can put a Strat neck on a Tele body, but that there will be gaps at the side.  I'm wondering how big they are, and how much it will annoy me if I go this direction.

I'm planning to build the rest up with P90s (a buddy has a set of GFS he is not using, along with a set of ESP-stamped Kluson vintage tuners).  I'm still debating pickguard color, but am thinking either parchment or "mother-of-toilet-seat."

Thanks in advance!

I don't have a photo, but I am under the impression that if you use a 22-fret neck, the overhang will completely hide the gaps.

That's a good point.  I'm hoping to use Showcase stuff...  Wonder if they have a 22-fret CBS Strat neck?

Here is my tele I did that way.  The gaps are not noticeable to me.

And here is the thread

First off, welcome to the forum! I have heard the over-hung fretboards cover the tiny gaps, but haven't done a mix-n-match like that... but have often thought it would be cool to see a deluxe with an "f"-hole.

Considered putting tortoise shell on that bad-boy? -Whether those P-90's are black or cream, the tortie surrounding them on that sonic blue would look really sweet!

Yeah, pickguard color is a stumper.  I was originally thinking Sonic Blue, but I reallllly like the looks of a parchment guard on Daphne blue.

I just sold a bouzouki, so I have the project funding...  I just need to pull the trigger.

One of my Teles has a Tele pocket and a Strat heel. Can't tell after it's assembled unless you know what you're looking for, and even then it's not obvious.

-Oh, that's a sweet place to be; $$$ in hand, the cart all loaded up, Spike on the phone (all questions answered and all doubts laid to rest) and hovering over the "go to checkout" button!

The solid pearloid pickguards from Warmoth look pretty cool; better than white pearl, especially if you want to suggest some age, without going to the yellowish "vintage pearl" extreme. -Priced a little higher than the other pearls, but totally worth it, with lotsa depth and visual texture! That would hafta look good on daphne or sonic blue.  :icon_thumright:

Done!  Just got off the phone with Spike.  Funny thing is, he JUST got an email from someone wanting to do the same thing (`72 Thinline body with CBS neck).  I wonder if this thread inspired anyone.

I went with Sonic blue and the vintage pearl PG.  Thanks for the advice!  Once it shows I'll start a build thread.
