Just arrived...

And booked in with FunkyPhil for assembly and fettling in June [the man's mega busy these days], so I won't get to play this for a while...

I have other guitars to play of course though!  :guitaristgif:

In the meantime, some specs and pics:

Body: Showcase purchase, canary on mahogany, contoured heel.
Body Options: Wood mount bridge and neck humbucker rout, American Standard Strat tremolo rout, Tele V/T, 1/2" side jack.

Neck: Modern construction, quartersawn Bubinga, Warhead, Fatback, 21 fret, stainless steel 6100 frets, 1 3/4" nut, white Graphtech Earvana TUSQ XL, Schaller tuner holes, no inlay, white side dots, unique choice Bubinga fingerboard, 10"-16" compund radius.

Hardware: Chrome, Schaller locking, DiMarzio Transitions [chrome covered bridge & neck versions], knurled metal knobs, Jim Dunlop Dual Design Straploks, Hipshot Strat Tremolo with U saddles, Icon Plates stainless steel neck plates, stainless steel neck screws, no trem cavity cover.

All safe in a nice Hiscox hard case!  :icon_biggrin:

Note: Thanks to Brian, Lori and Joyce at Warmoth for their assistance during my order process!  :icon_thumright:

Lovely parts!  Looking forward to the completed guitar manifesting itself in due course.

Very nice choices!

Love the Bubinga.

(Got a Gibson J-100 w/Bubinga back and sides – looks beautiful, sounds great.)

Looking forward to following the build...

Thanks for the kind comments guys! I too am looking forward to it [gotta learn some Big Wreck tunes to play through it when it's ready]!  :icon_thumright:

I have one main decision left before assembly - which Hipshot vibrato to use! I have a Contour one, and a Strat one - both with the 'U' saddles [which I love the look of]. Both units will work perfectly, but not sure which one will look better...  :icon_scratch:

I think I'm veering towards the simpler Strat version, as Mike Lipe uses on his instruments.  :dontknow:

Cosmetics, eh!  :icon_biggrin:

That looks awesome. And I think you will love that Bubinga neck. I have one also on a strat Cagey put together for me and it is wonderful and sounds great.  :party07:

Which Big Wreck song you thinking?  Just any song, or that song.  :headbang:

There's two now:

Ghosts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uYzg6dgoDU

and of course:

That Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAkpiWigT0E

I'm a Pete Thorn fan, so was subscribed to his channel and obviously Suhr's, then I came across Big Wreck and Ian Thornley and now constantly have their melodies in my head... Why haven't I heard of these guys sooner?  :icon_scratch: Now listening through their other material :icon_thumright:

Tasty. I'm a big fan of no inlay, and with that fretboard it really works very well. And I'm also a big fan of canary, so this is really my thing.

Thanks - 'less is more' in my view, so clean lines are way more appealing than some busy, ornate, dust filling, twirly bits.  :laughing7:

This is my first acquisition of Canary - I thought it was going to be a bit lighter and yellower than it is, but that's no bad thing - I prefer this darker, warmer, almost 'tobacco misty' hue.

As it's a showcase body purchase, I'll use some Tru-Oil to seal the fresh routs for pickups, pots and bridge. Allows plenty of drying time before it goes over to FunkyPhil in June!

Agree with the aesthetic but not the formulation. With all due respect to Mies, less is less. (And that's a good thing!)

This is going to be gorgeous! Also, I didn't know you could get tele controls on a strat...huh.

What are you doing for a switch? Or no switch?

It could be the hybrid stray body. Though I'm not entirely sure.

Hybrid strat is normally top routed only. I think it's a custom job that ended up in the showcase for whatever reason.

The body was a standard rear rout Strat from the Showcase. As I only needed a pair of holes, a combination of two from the standard Strat trio didn't place right for me visually, as well as practically, so when adding my pickup rout / jack options on the builder I left it as 'none', then I added a special note at the payment stage requesting Tele Volume and Tone holes, with no switch slot - 'X-V-T (Tele)' [for an upcharge], which over-rides the earlier default options.

My previous 3 Warmoths have the same control set up - two push/pull volume pots, one for each pickup that blend. They each coil split their respective humbucker. I generally don't use a tone pot on my custom builds and use an EQ pedal if I need to dial back any brightness. This combo of pots allows for 6 options, which is good enough for me!

Oh wow. That sounds awesome. I will definitely consider getting something like this if I ever build a Soloist guitar. Don't really like the typical strat controls.

Getting excited - guitar is being dropped of with Funky Phil tomorrow morning for him to work his magic on assembling, wiring and setting up my Canary / Bubinga Strat!  :cool01:
