hey guys, noob here. i am considering putting together my first strat using a warmoth body and neck, but don't know much about the company. i do have questions about the templates they use for shaping their bodies and necks. i know that the headstock shape is licensed by fender; but what about the strat body shape? are there differences between fender and warmoth bodies; i.e. sharper cutaway shapes, different body contour angles, etc. or did warmoth take measurements from an actual fender strat. thanks for any input you could give!

Regarding the bodies, I believe that the W bodies are fashioned after an amalgamation of several Fender bodies.  Fender hasn't stuck to a particular shape/contour over the years.  Some people will reshape the W bodies to match an exact vintage of Fender body.  It should be noted that the chambered Warmoth bodies have a sharper edge radius than the solid bodies.  In my experience, it's still very comfortable.

Geez, which Fender Strat?  They've been all over the places over the decades.  If you want a vintage styled Strat body, go with the Vintage body.  If you want more of a modern design, got with the Stadard body.  There is no licensing required for body shapes, BTW.  Anyone can make one.

Are you trying to match a particular year or model?  If so, which one?

hey guys, thanks for the replies. i'm not looking to base it on any one particular era model; i was just curious if warmoth took an "our take on the strat style" type of philosophy on shaping their bodies.
