Strap Button Cushions

Hey peeps, I've got a question...

What does everyone use for strap button cushions?  The little pieces of feltish material between the guitar body and the strap button?  I've been kinda looking around but can't find too much for info...

You can get rubber washers in the plumbing section at a hardware store.  I wouldn't use them with a nitro finish though

I might get flamed for this, but I went to a pharmacy and bought some of the little felt circles that have adhesive on one side.  I made sure that the package said "felt."  Obviously, I put the sticky side against the strap button...

This was on a cheap acoustic, mind you.

I've used 'rubber' grommets.  Not recommended - they dissolved the finish of my Rickenbacker where it was touching.

The felt ones sold by stu-mac have been working for me for a while.

Just look for "Felt Washers"  They'll cost you next to nothing.

+1...I have done this several times...work well...and they are the perfect size too.

Ummmm.... I never gave this any thought until seeing this thread.  Never use 'em.  Am I missing something?  Should I be using the felts? :icon_scratch:

They totally improve tone and sustain..!

Or maybe they just protect your finish from the buttons scratching it up. Your method may vary.

Stew-Mac sends you like 6 of them for $2..I only needed 2 but whatever--I guess I have to build 2  more guitars. Don't tell my wife.

Makes some calls to local guitar shops and GC, I can't believe someone doesn't carry them.. Also you can go the local craft store and buy a piece of felt for very little, do it yourself is always the way to go :icon_thumright:
