I tried searching, even tried Google advanced search on this and other forums. But will anything stain cream phenolic markers black? I read some of the threads on replacing dot markers and it sounds like a non-starter. But I think I could handle (and have even contemplated ordering) black markers on jet black ebony). So is there anything that can be applied to them which will durably render them black - especially if you're already going to be applying a black dye

It sounds like the black dye above won't touch the markers (and most people don't want it to.) But I wonder if anything will.

I don't know of anything that can dye plastic in a lasting way, but there may be a product out there.  I would search for the product rather than searching for the how-to.

Honestly though, if it were me, I'd probably just drill the cream inlays out and replace them with black dots.  It's not as tricky as it sounds, you just need a drill with the right size brad point bit, the new dots, some epoxy, and sand paper.  I've seen people actually use a hole puncher to make their own dot inlays from picks, but you can buy black dots easily online.
