Squier/Warmoth Tele: Action Too Low?

Hey guys, I just got my first Warmoth neck to go on a Squier Telecaster Affinity HH. It looks great:

And it seemed to fit the neck pocket nicely, but when I strung it up, the strings were all touching the upper frets. After raising my bridge saddles (Gotoh hardtail bridge) nearly all the way, it's at least playable but it sounds "plinky". Like the strings are still a bit too low and hitting against the upper frets too much. Almost a banjo kind of effect...

I know these affinity bodies are thinner than standard, so maybe the neck pocket is too shallow, causing the neck to sit higher than it should? I don't know if I should ditch the body and drop more cash on something like a Fender MIM? But I guess no guarantee it wouldn't have the same problem or worse. Perhaps I just need to shim the neck?

Any input/advice would be hugely appreciated!

Neck shims will fix it. StewMac sells these shims, which work exceptionally well - much better than the ol' matchbook cover or pick you find in some pockets. They're solid Maple, and don't leave any voids.

Sounds to me like the truss rod is overtightened, or the nut slots were cut too low.

I put a Warmoth neck on a Squier Affinity Strat with that thin body and it worked fine. Yours looks great and is probably made from alder so it's worth finding a fix for it.

Thanks for the responses. I feel a bit more hopeful that it's not a lost cause. I just ordered the Stew Mac shims and I'll also try adding a tad more relief in the neck. Hope that will fix it! I'll report back.

I plan on taking it in for a full setup anyway. Might have them dress the frets too. I want this thing to be a monster when it's finished  :glasses9:.
