Splitting Piezo Signal?

What would happen if you split the signal from a a piezo bridge to both an onboard acoustic preamp and another device (in this case a Line 6 Variax circuit board)? Assuming my 10th grade physics class taught me well the current from the piezo should be just as strong as if it wasn't going to two separate devices. My concern is that some awful sound my come out of one of or both of the said devices because of some kind of evil-Devil-black magic thing I don't understand and so I would like to know if this would be okay to do before I invest anymore thought into the idea.

You absolutely MUST buffer the signal before you do anything with it. It's an extremely high impedance signal. Splitting the passive output to two places would give you a lot of loss. The input impedances of the two places you are running the signal would also combine in parallel and decrease.

What you need is a dual output buffer. Something to buffer the piezo signal, and then give you multiple outputs.

Dual output buffer being something along the lines of this?

PS If it is something along the lines of that, any idea where I can find more (should I find this to not be suitable for my needs after educating my self further on these types of gizmos)?

That's vacuum tube-based. You wouldn't want something like that on your guitar, as there are limitations to the available size and thermal dissipation capability of the control cavity, as well as concerns over supplying the necessary voltage and current to power the circuit, without using external power. I would also be willing to bet that the input impedance is too low to work well with piezos.

I am not aware off hand of any mass produced piezo buffers with dual outputs. Perhaps someone can recommend something.
Otherwise, you would have to build one.

Damn. Well I suppose that saves me trouble in the long run, I'll just have to pick between the two. Thanks bootyloads : D
