Speed Knobs & Push-Push Pots?

Is that a safe combination? Just wondering whether it's a good idea using a push-on knob with the pot in case I need to remove it in the future. Is it OK so long as the pot switch is in the "UP" position when trying to remove it?

You CAN get that to work, but I'd be nervous about later removing the speed knobs; also the push/push knobs are kind of jickey and if you press the knob ALL the way down on the shaft you may not have enough clearance between the knob/body to depress it enough to activate the mechanism and get it to pop UP to the alternate position. It's a LOT easier using knobs with set screws....

make sure the shaft is up, then grab it with pliers, then push on the knob with one hand, it should go quite easy. done! I did it 8 times ,and it went like a charm.
