Source for custom paint job?

Hi folks,

I have always loved the color scheme Gretsch used on the Double Anniversary - the two tone "smoke green," with a sort of mint/cream/ivory top and baby poop green back and sides.

However, I've always wanted this paint scheme, with double binding, on a Telecaster body. Warmoth doesn't offer either color, and I suspect they're totally uninterested in doing a custom color combo right now, with such a huge backlog.

So, can anyone recommend a shop that does custom paint jobs and can handle the handwork needed to paint/scrape binding?

Thanks,
DeWayne

I would always recommend Tonar, but I have to say that although he's done some crazy jobs for me (green paisley telecaster), this one might even be more crazy!

No harm in asking him though.  He's a member here so you can just PM him.

I've had couple bodies painted by Pat Wilkins Guitars in recent years, excellent finish though you do pay for it. You can always reach out to him if your initial leads don't pan out. I don't know if he has been able to re-open yet since CA closed non-essential businesses, I'm certainly looking forward to it as I have couple bodies I want to get finished soon.

I’ve had Tonar do 5-6 bodies and some necks, all nitro, going back over 10 years.

Getting right to it - go to reranch.com and buy one can each of smoke green and Cadillac green. Talk to Tonar and try to work that out, but failing that this wouldn’t be a terrible DIY project including the binding scraping - I’ve done scraping all of three times but on more challenging body shapes with necks attached. However, nitro comes with its own wait, you need a place to do it and maybe $100 in supplies and patience.

I would google image search “reranch smoke green” and the other color and see if they look acceptably close to you but seem to look right.
