I have heard Tonar play and though he wants to change the pickups to Lollars, I KNOW through 1st hand that he can drag those pickups through some awesome tones.  :hello2:

Ain't that always the way? The good players I've seen can take any old raggedy-assed Japanese POS from the early '70s, play it unassisted through a Pignose and make magic with it, where your typical headbanger rock star wannabe can take a $7,000 PRS through an Eventide rack into a Dumble and make it sound defective. And you know who's convinced they just need a different or better guitar/effect/amp <grin>

It's kinda the same way with me and my fishing poles. After a trip or two I need a new one because obviously this one doesn't work. :icon_biggrin:

No doubt. But, more accurately, its easier to replace equipment than to improve one's self. Practice isn't much fun.

I often have this conversation with my musical family and friends.
"I hate this [guitar/pedal/amp]. Sounds/plays like shit."
"How much time have you put on it in the last month?"
"Well, I've been busy."
"Mmm-hmm."

I have always followed the Shatner principle of, "If my tone is not right, it's gotta be the wristbands."  Other things, like shoelaces, socks, and strings are common problems as well.

I might be wrong, but I think Tonar has the Immunity Idol.  Actually I think he has several, and they are all tastefully finished in vintage correct manners that coax out their inner beauty.
