Huh, never heard of her before. I like her style of playing and singing, both a little spastic but in a way I appreciate. Did not like the guitar tone though, too harsh / metallic for my ears.

there are 3 more videos from this show if you go to youtube...

yea, her original music is amazing. it was actually that episode of ACL that made me fall in love with her art. I was just flipping through, and on a whim, I saw her and was completely hypnotized for 40-something minutes. "blown away" doesn't even describe my reaction. I think she's my favorite artist since I got into Zappa. she needs to be my wife, pronto. lol.

Now I'm extra bummed that I missed the Andrew Bird/St. Vincent show when they toured together.  He always plays with amazing openers (like Loney Dear, freaking EPIC set), seems like it would have been crazy mind-blowing considering he sometimes plays a song or two with the opening act.  I recently read an interview with her about her music, and I thought she had some really positive things to say, especially about being a female musician.

The entire ACL episode with the two of them is here: http://video.pbs.org/video/1287561166/

The beginning of that song sounded Philip Glass-ish, the rest sounded Zappa-ish.
Cool.

When I listened, I knew it reminded me of SOMETHING. Philip Glass, yes! Good call  :icon_thumright:
