Soloist pickguard?

The soloist & strat shapes have have been produced since the 80's in any combination you can think.




Bigsby, TV Jones and P90's will fit in a non vintage guitar if you have good taste.

:cool01:Fact is, they'll "fit" even if ya got lousy taste...and that's all we're doin' here, ain't it? This whole guitar 'thing' is as subjective as anything could be.
Opinions are like armpits...everybody's got a couple, and one man's dreck is another man's dream...most any guitar build on this forum will elicit the whole range of possible responses, from
negative to positive, and that's as it should be--the differences in what we find appealing both visually and tonally are probably why the forum exists. Put a pickguard on it!! Or not.... :cool01:

I always liked the Spectrum pickguards. Someday I need to order one and see if it fits the W Soloist.

If a Soloist doesn't need a PG then surely a Strat doesn't either. Unless something about longer horns affects whether or not you need a PG.

When you get right down to it, either everything or nothing needs a pickguard. It's there to guard the finish from being scratched by the pick. Hence, the name: Pick Guard. When you consider that the pickguard covers the finish, it starts to get a little silly. You're guarding the appearance of something that's never going to be seen.

The only purpose they serve to me is covering the huge hole in top-routed guitars.

Right. Some pickguards are not simply pickguards. They're mounting arrangements designed to make manufacturing simpler (read: cheaper). Thank you, Leo. Yes, they also function as pickguards, but with most modern finishes that utility is unnecessary. We seem to be stuck with the description, though.
