They've done that with a few songs and one song is always significantly louder than the other.  I'm not a big fan, but their songs aren't carbon copies of each other like people like to pretend.  They've got their own style that makes their stuff fairly similar just like anybody.

That two of their "hits" are essentially the same song.  :icon_scratch:

Well, I'm no fan of Nickelback, but some might say they have thier own "style", which is why the 2 songs are similar.  Lots of bands have done the same.

Hey, AC DC made an entire career out of having written only 3 or 4 songs!  But you'll never hear me dissing any of thier stuff !   :rock-on:

That's cuz their guitar tone has BALLS.

And their lead singer sings like he has BALLS.

And one of their most famous tunes is "Big BALLS".

It's all about the BALLS with AC/DC...

I dunno.. in my headphones they sound like the exact same level.

I HAVE NEVER AGREED WITH YOU MORE!

I actually don't think the songs sinc up all that well, other than the tempo.  That's just a sign of a click track and a professional recording.  The buildups line up, but songs being formulaic is nothing new.  That being said, I have accused Nicelback of writing the same song, and Everclear and Blink 182 and Green Day to a lesser extent.  There's a genre called the blues that uses a pattern that repeats every 12 bars and usually uses the the 1st, 4th, and 5th notes of a major scale.  Don't tell anyone.

Someday is louder.  For the most part you can only hear This is How You Remind Me when the lyrics from Someday break.  If it shows anything, it just shows that they have the same tendencies as other bands.

Not the first act to discover a  formula of chords and melody format that sells, and stick to it. And probably not the last either. :dontknow:

But if they keep doing it over and over again, people will soon get sick of the same old, same old.

They kind of are getting sick of it.  Nickelback has been the one rock band to stay on radio stations that don't play rock music.  They have been the token rock band on these stations and have been sold on the "Now....Hits" cds, mingled in with Britney, Christina, Kenye, etc.  Nickelback's days as being the token rock band are over.  It's probably King's of Leon now.  In both cases, it's nothing to do with sound, it's look and marketability, because listeners no longer decide what good music and hit records are anymore.  If it's played on the radio, "we" like it.

You would think the band would get sick of it.  I can't imagine painting the same picture over and over again without getting bored, and I certainly can't imagine writing the same song over and over wouldn't get old real fast.

Chad Kroger in a Lamborghini still isn't half as cool as Angus Young in, say, a station wagon.

I hate this band so much.

Something along those lines.  Here's James Hetfeld and Robert Trujillo on Rodeo Drive.

I bet they do Hannaugh. But if you do a job that has a lot of repetition, you soon find ways to distract yourself away from the boredom of it.

My current job has a lot of repetition about it, and my previous job was boredom central.

Even when I was in a high public role at Sydney Airport I'd walk around and around looking like a cardboard cut out, trying not to look bored sh*tless. Took a fair amount of self discipline to do what you were paid to do and not just goof off and do your own thing, believe me. At Sydney Airport I used to play 'spot the celebrity' to keep my mind active. That paid dividends big time one day, when I spotted a wanted felon.

So, if the money's right, or the job is taking you in a direction that will open up opportunities, then I guess you could accept the drivel of playing the same song format over and over again.

But then again, don't the main acts all do that when they hit the road. :icon_scratch: There'd be very few of them who'd suddenly decide to play "Johnny B. Goode" for the heck of it, what with programmed light shows and video backdrops. The set list would have to be pretty much set in concrete each night.

Mind you, if every second song was the same but with different words it would be hard to swallow standing there before thousands of people. I'd be worried people would wake up to the scam and start booing!
