Not the first act to discover a formula of chords and melody format that sells, and stick to it. And probably not the last either. :dontknow:
But if they keep doing it over and over again, people will soon get sick of the same old, same old.
You would think the band would get sick of it. I can't imagine painting the same picture over and over again without getting bored, and I certainly can't imagine writing the same song over and over wouldn't get old real fast.
I bet they do Hannaugh. But if you do a job that has a lot of repetition, you soon find ways to distract yourself away from the boredom of it.
My current job has a lot of repetition about it, and my previous job was boredom central.
Even when I was in a high public role at Sydney Airport I'd walk around
and around looking like a cardboard cut out, trying not to look bored sh*tless. Took a fair amount of self discipline to do what you were paid to do and not just goof off and do your own thing, believe me. At Sydney Airport I used to play 'spot the celebrity' to keep my mind active. That paid dividends big time one day, when I spotted a wanted felon.
So, if the money's right, or the job is taking you in a direction that will open up opportunities, then I guess you could accept the drivel of playing the same song format over and over again.
But then again, don't the main acts
all do that when they hit the road. :icon_scratch: There'd be very few of them who'd suddenly decide to play "Johnny B. Goode" for the heck of it, what with programmed light shows and video backdrops. The set list would have to be pretty much set in concrete each night.
Mind you, if every second song was the same but with different words it would be hard to swallow standing there before thousands of people. I'd be worried people would wake up to the scam and start booing!
