Some folks like spinach, others don't. Some folks like Strats, others don't. It's all personal choice.  :dontknow:

I went back to the original post for the Thread and noticed, however,  that Warmoth aren't necessarily asking for our opinions of the designs, rather they are saying "Here they are." With the promise of another next week.

In which case, I guess we can all chill out about who's for or against the designs,  sit back & watch the designs unfold. Warmoth seems to have already made their own decisions about what they want to put out, so sales will be the decider. Would I buy this body design? No.

I think a large percentage of folks who seek out exotic fancy guitar bodies & necks (and I'm no exception) let function take a back seat to form.  Everyone would probably have a Parker Fly if the way it looks wasn't so divisive (I happen to really like them both cosmetically and the way they play).

I'm curious if there'll be some unique dimensions (25" scale, different neck pocket?) or if you can slap a Strat, Tele, etc. neck on these bodies.

Exactly. It may feel great (surprised to see no tummy cut) but add me to the naysayers, looks-wise. That upper horn/lump just doesn't work for me from the pics. I will probably have to eat my own words when you guys put together some stunning examples.

There are 4 carve top models coming though - double cut version of this one? double and single cut non-offset waist models? Can't wait...

It reminds me of a slightly curvier Schecter, specifically the Synyster Gates model, and that's not a good thing in my book.

I remember reading a quote of someone telling Leo Fender that the Tele looked like a girl with ugly clothes on... but that design is still hangin' in there. -No telling how these shapes will do; our grandkids may become "vintage purists", just itchin' to get their mits on one of them original dubba-yuh carve-tops.

It is the result of someone's, perhaps multiple persons', hard work, so I should be polite with my naysaying.  But it looks a hybrid to me.  An EBMM EVH and the Carvin SB4000.  Honestly, since the Gibson shapes were abandoned, I was expecting non-copyrighted variation (think VIP compared to PRS) to replace it, not a new design.  And yes, every classic design is hated by many when first introduced.

My first impression, it was a joke to test our fanboydom.  An emperor's new clothes kind of thing.

If so, add me to the list. I just don't the EVH-ish aspects of it and how thin the upper horn is. Regardless of my personal opinion, I'm sure many will love it and I can't wait to see the other bodies.

Tastes and desires change. Before I joined this forum, you would never have caught me with a Tele. But, between here and TDPRI I've changed my mind to the point where they're one of my favorite designs and now I have 4 of them. None of them are anything like Leo's chintzy ass would have turned out, but so what? Thing is, they're like a blank slate. You can do so much with one. It's a slab guitar, just begging to be made into your own idea of what works. For as simple as they are, they make a great base because they're already well-balanced, sturdy and comfortable.

Even without seeing them, I can easily imagine Warmoth's originals developing a cult following. Breeding always speaks for itself, and their lowest-end parts beat many of the higher-end parts from other suppliers. I don't know how old Ken Warmoth is, but I hope he lives to see his efforts vindicated.

If they had just taken that model and carved it I'd like it, but that upper horn kills it for me.

You're the second one to mention the upper horn. I didn't think that was so off as the lower horn. It's just a little thing that's barely there. Hardly balances. I'd even go so far as to say it's hideously, gut-wrenchingly ugly, and if that becomes a production model, I'm going to have to fly out to Pullmypantsup, WA and punch Rob in the throat. Hard.

I'm kidding, of course. I'd never fly anywhere. I'm too much of a smartass. The dreaded TSA would have me in the secret back rooms for strip searches, cavity searches, and questioning for so long I'd likely lose all my teeth and die of malnutrition and dehydration before they'd let me go.

I'm a fan of both parent shapes, and I could easily see this new carved top (CIP?) looking amazing with a number of different wood combos.

I like it. Add a forearm contour and a tummy cut and I think that's a pretty nice shape. I think part of what's throwing the look off is the rout for the Floyd. Add a non-recessed Wilkinson to it so that more of the shape behind the bridge shows and I think it would look even better.

It's too bad we don't have the Explorer headstock shape available anymore. I think the combination of those two would look pretty good.
