Seasonal Greetings 2025

hello and seasons greetings to u all. on Xmas night, i did some fresh #urban #exploring in the old candle factory district in St Louie on 9th St. ive done this stuff since I was eight (8) and love digging up old stuff (notebooks, some rando sheet music, chairs of several sizes and shapes, rope). But this time I heard a hoot sound hooting from somewheres in the old building i was in. #naturally, I assumed it was an owl, and I hooted back just to be funny. "hoot hoot" I said with a laugh. the sound stopped, so I continued my exploration and found a pretty cool notebook with plans for a new shape of candle thats never been done before.

then from the hallway another, longer "Hoot" but closer. i again hooted back lol. it was starting to be a little weird, but I continued, doing a little bit of graffiti (candle flames, writing "candles suck" and "nobody even likes lavender scents" etc) and then the hooting came again, this time even more loud.

I froze, cause it sounded really close this time. I was afraid to make another hoot sound, so I turned around, and a man was standing in the doorway! It was dark so he probably couldn't actually see me (with his eyes) but I could see his silhouette against the pale moonlight coming through a broken window. as if he sensed me, he hooted again maybe 4 yards (12 feet) from me, standing in a pile of lead paint chips at the entrance to the big candle room I was in. "HOOOOT" he yelled.

he started to walk into the room, towards me, but after a few paces, in this dim light, I saw that he actually had no eyes. His face had gross sunken eye sockets, but there was just skin. I stood perfectly still, and no more than a few feet away from me as I held my breath, he hooted. "HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!"

It turned out he was just using echolocation to navigate through the candle factory (he was looking for old candles and the sound reflects differently off of candle wax) but it really scared me. That might be my last holiday trip to the old candle district but hey like the Goonies says, never say never again
