Schaller tuners *not* hard to put in...?

I've read here and there that Schaller Mini Locking tuners are press fit, sometimes to the point that people suspect the holes haven't been drilled to the proper size (see this thread as an example). My issue is somewhat the opposite: the tuners just drop into the holes, no pressing required. They're not really loose and there doesn't seem to be any play once they're in the holes, they just drop in very easily and are every bit as easy to take out.

Is this ok, and if not, what should I do about it? Also, if it is ok, any ideas why it might be this way, considering how often one hears / reads the opposite? Could it be because mine is a raw neck?

Though it probably goes w/out saying I got both the neck and the tuners from Warmoth, and the neck specs list the "Schaller (25/64" 11/32") Tuner Ream."

If there is no play, you are fine.

Why your experience differs from others?  Manufacturing tolerance?  Wood shrinkage?  Could be any number of things.

But you're ok.

Used them in last 3 builds.  They press in with moderate effort and fit snugly.  No issues.  Very precise reaming from W.

Mine require no effort and the fit I wouldn't describe as snug, hence my question. It's probably not a problem, as Mayfly suggests, but I may just give W a call to be sure.

If there is no play and they are not lose when in the holes I wouldn't worry about it.

Its wood, it expands and contracts with moisture content etc.

Thanks stratamania for the reassurance. I did wind up calling W and got the same reply.

As this build actually moves toward its completion I think I might be getting a little, what's the word, surely not "paranoid" but something not too far from it... :)

Ok that's good.

"Positively expectant" might be a better option than paranoid  :icon_thumright:
