Hi, all! It has been a while since I have been active on the UW forum . . . but one doesn't really realize how much a guitar is worth until it is gone. I'm out in NYC for the semester, without my Warmoth (or any guitar for that matter). It has been several months now, and I can't take it anymore. My roommate has a mandolin but it just isn't the same thing. My school has had all students on lockdown in our LIC apartments for the last week thanks to Sandy, and being indoors without a guitar for this extended period of time has put me over the edge. (Thankfully this is the worst aspect of my Sandy experience . . . my prayers go out to those less fortunate.)

Is there anyone in the NYC area willing to loan this poor student a guitar for a month or even just a week? It doesn't need to be anything more than six strings and some frets.  :help:

would a nylon string do? i can make it to Manhattan in just over an hour. i'm not exactly in the nyc area but depending on what part of the city you are in it's not too much of a big deal for me, i can take a train (but need to check the prices since it's not something i often do). there are other guitars here i wouldn't miss, but they're not really mine to lend..

Nylon? Sure, if it isn't too much of a hassle. Sandy knocked out quite a lot of public transit, just so you know. If you'e heading to nyc anyway, bring it along and I'll meet you, but don't feel like you have to make a trip just on my behalf.

sometimes i get paid to drive my neighbor to and from here manhattan apartment. i didn't think about the effects of sandy on public transit. the thing about driving is round trip is about $30 in gas and depending on what bridge and highways up to about $14 in tolls so it's not the best thing for me to do if i'm not getting compensated for the drive. i can still get gas up here (for now) i know it is hard to come by down there right now. so if i am asked to drive her down anyway it's no big deal, i'll call her tomorrow to see if there is a day she is aiming to make the trip this week.

i also have a lot of family in different parts of nyc and should probably head down there in the next few weeks just to keep them off my back, not sure if you want to wait that long.
