Routes for minihumbucker

Greetings,

Has anyone done mini humbucker routes in the top of the wood and were there any sizing issues?  I had called "W" and expressed interest in a Mooncaster with mini hb routes.  They cautioned that there are different dimension specs for various mini hb makers.  Wondering if anyone has run into mini hb sizing issues.

Dimarzios are a little wider than gibsons or seymours.  I've only used them in pickguards so it's no trouble to widen the guard with a little sand paper.  Also I used a humbucker route so no issues there.  Never tried them on a rout that required a ring.

Firebird or LP Deluxe mini humbuckers ?
Both are usually mounted using pickup rings so fitting has some flexibility.

I believe dimensionally to fit in a route, the Gibsons are the same.  I have noticed different dimensions from different manufacturers.

If you take a look at for example Strat pickguards you will see there are two options for mini humbuckers, Seymour Duncan and Gibson. They are different dimensionally. If you click the options to the left side you can see what they are for each variant. Most makers will offer one or the other of those dimensions.

My experience is with the Duncan SM-1, Allparts, and Lindy Fralin ones.

The Lindy Fralin and Allparts are exactly the same size (28 x 68mm).  While the Duncan are smaller in both dimensions.  I'm not sure if Gibson and Lollar may be similar, but Dimarzio seem to be different again.

Warmoth seem to use the same body-route for Seymour Duncan and Gibson.  So there must be a fairly wide tolerance in the dimensions.

And of course you can put Mini Humbuckers in a P90 rout with a mounting ring and bracket such as Gibson put on LP Deluxes.
