rosewood fingerboard/finish?

Hi.1st post here, numerous at TGP/SD/etc.So I ordered my 1st Warmoth neck today. Pretty simple VM /SC but with rosewood[1st I've ever owned] and wondering about putting some kinda oil on fretboard.Will go Tru on headstock and back. The wood is on the lite side so I can see more grain on the 1 I ordered. So in case I want to darken it up a little,what do you think? Thanks

Orange oil will clean, moisturize, and darken.

Tru oil will darken but will also leave a hard surface on the neck is enough is put on.  Ever play a Ric?

Some folks use lemon oil too.  Has the same properties as orange.

I have used orange oil on my rosewood for 20+ years.  My fingers boards are better than new.  Very dark in color too.

Uh, Well that sounds good. Get it HD,hardware store? Will it darken the Maple Headstock and back. Not lookin for a high gloss or anything a mild sheen  but something that will polish out.

I just did a tru oil finish on the walnut neck and I've put some lemon oil on the rosewood fretboard. You can see on the rosewood above the nut where the tru oil is.

A lot of people say not to use tru oil on rosewood as you can have trouble with it drying.

I've used lemon oil on rosewood fretboards for years and it feels better, smells nice, and gradually darkens the rosewood which is really nice.

Is the maple finished?  It should be.  I would not use the lemon/orange oil on maple.  Tru oil would be better there.

I like it. Nice job!  Ok guy's don't wanna make this more complicated than neccessary. So Orangeor lemonor teak on the fret board and Tru on the reat? How many coat's to your neck darkness same for board,darkness leval I meam?

You don't really need to oil the fretboard often, so that's a consideration.  Tru Oil IS an option for finishing the maple, but I would go with nitrocellulose lacquer. Good hard finish, yellows over time, is boner worthy, etc.

Well here is the neck that arrived today. Was wondering what will be my best approach to bring out some of the grain[not real crazy about the shallowness of it] have copy T with much deeper grain.Picked up some  Formby's Tung today but wonder if it will give me much darkening?

You can try a little bit in the base of the neck whre Warmoth is stamped, but I'm sure Tung will bring some of the grain and color dyes will definitively will bring what ever is there the good and the bad.♫
