Roger Waters. The Wall. Fenway Park.

Interesting side note, G.E. Smith is one of the guitarists in the current touring line-up.

As much as I like and respect David Gilmore, I have to say that Roger Waters WAS Pink Floyd. The stuff Gilmore did with Pink Floyd after Waters left was okay but it was basically a David Gilmore solo effort with some other Pink Floyd members thrown in. Waters provided a certain "edgyness" to Pink Floyd that gave it so much appeal. That said, Gilmore provided an ability to deliver Waters songs in a musically compelling manner. Maybe they will team up again someday, who knows (hey, if David Lee Roth could make up and get back with EVH, anything is possible!).

Before the show:

Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2:

I've got a video of Another Brick in the Wall Pt.3 through to the intermission, but the file is massive and I haven't uploaded it yet.

No more Richard Wright though...

I respectfully disagree. It took all of them to make Pink Floyd what they were.

To be on topic and not start an arguement... I saw Roger Waters "The Wall" in 2010. Awesome show. I saw it at the Verizon Center in DC on 10/10/10. He's a good live performer, and The Wall has always been a great album. And a weird one. Though not so weird as "Tommy".  :tard:

And I think Waters is an over-rated hack. I submit that Waters' "edgyness" is the same as 'assolness' that Pink Floyd didn't need - and if he wouldn't have been kicked out - the band would have died shortly thereafter.

I think almost everything Floyd has done after Waters is better than most everything before.

Pink Floyd doesn't need Waters, and I believe they are a far better band without him. Gilmour is hands down a better writer, singer, frontman, and guitarist.

To each his own.

I don't distinguish between Waters and Gilmore so much as the band history. Everything prior to "Dark Side of the Moon" was dreck, everything since has been between acceptable and great. How they managed that, I don't care. They're an entertainment company. If they produce material that actually entertains, they make money. If not...

Yes, to each his own. Roger Waters may very well be an AH -- I don't have anything to base that on except what I have read about him and seen in interviews. Comes across as a pretty intelligent dude with a bit of a super-ego and an attitude. Okay. As far as David Gilmour, I've been a fan of his since before DSOTM ("Meddle" and the soundtrack to "The Valley/Obscured By Clouds" were excellent) and jumped on his solo releases starting with the first one in '78. And as much as I hate to admit it, when I first heard "Learning To Fly" and just about every other post-Waters PF release, it sounded like -- another David Gilmour solo release. Nothing against David Gilmour, but that is not Pink Floyd. Just my $0.02.

I didn't get into Floyd until a little more than a year ago. Since then I might've gotten 17 albums (counting 3 live).
The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Saucerful of Secrets, More, Ummagumma, and Atom Heart Mother are dreadful to my ears.
It gets great in a hurry with Meddle, Obscured by Clouds, DSotM, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall, but The Final Cut is drivel. Gilmour had pretty much checked out at that time and it's Waters being depressed for an hour.
A Momentary Lapse of Reason is pretty good, and while I quite enjoy The Division Bell, my wife hates it.

Saw that.  That dude has a dream career.  I mean, seriously, is there anyone he hasn't played with?

July 21. Plains of Abraham, Québec City. Apparently, it's the last time it'll be performed--that's how they're billing it anyway.

Saw it in London last year, not the Gilmour night though, sadly. Blew my head off. Also, everyone shut up, I am the biggest Floyd fan of all time.

I saw Waters - The Wall back in 2010, so I saw no reason to see it again this year.  Anyway, I would rather see Brit Floyd or Aussie Floyd instead of Roger Waters.  IMHO, those 2 cover bands were better live than the 2 times I saw Waters live.

I agree with Tipperman.  All 4 were needed to make Pink Floyd.  Look what happened without Wright...The Final Cut.  It sounds just like a Waters solo album, dry and lifeless.  As much as I love Gilmour, the 2 albums without Waters, were just missing something.

Last thought, Obscured By Clouds, the most under-rated Floyd album.
