Curious, had this discussion with a few friends today....on average, how much lighter does a neck or body become from the roasting process? I know you are taking away most moisture, but 10% drop? 20%? more?

The suspicion is that neck dive is all but eliminated with a roasted neck, as they are likely all in the ~2 lb and under area, unless the body was super duper light, as in sub 2 1/4 lb. maybe?
Saw someone with a build, and starting with a 2.11 lb 3 piece tele body, unfinished, made with sycamore, and they are worried obviously.

Warmoth claims an average 25% weight reduction from chambering, but for their "roasted" parts, they buy the wood used for making them already torrified, so there's no way to compare before/after weights. I strongly suspect the reduction depends a great deal on the wood species.

I just got two new Vintage/Modern roasted maple necks, and without tuners one was 1.01lb and the other was 1.03lb. Pretty darn light if you ask me. My heaviest neck is a Modern construction solid Rosewood neck with Ebony fingerboard, block inlays, and with locking tuners installed weighs 1.15lbs. All the necks are pretty darn light and I doubt would cause any noticeable neck dive on a body in the 3lb range.

Necks can get heavier. I have an Ebony over Bloodwood neck that's 2lbs even, an Ebony over Pau Ferro that's near that, and a 1 piece Ziricote as well as a 1 piece Brazilian Ebony that are both near that. Had somebody's Ebony over Goncalo Alves at 2.2 in for work, which surprised the hell out me. But, none of them ever caused neck dive on Fender-style bodies. Now basses are a different story - the neck is long and often has more girth to it. Lotta weight with a lotta leverage - whaddaya want? And Gibson - most of that they make dives, due to poorly placed strap hangers.

I never weighed it, but I can tell you the roasted maple neck I have feels a lot lighter than any other maple neck I've felt. On the other side, the Brazilian ebony neck I have feels like it's made of lead.
