Roasted Flame Maple Neck

Just spent about an hour and a half burnishing the neck.  Unfortunately, I was a dumbass and forgot to tell them not to fret the neck.  So, sanding between the frets was a PITA.  Took it down to 2k.  I'm seriously thinking of going 3k.  A good bit of it looks like glass polished marble now.  I'm wondering if I take it down another notch if the rest will pop.

Maybe between the frets toward the nut, where you have more room to work. But, even there, you can't get up close to the frets. The farther up-neck you go, the worse it gets. I don't think going to the 3K grit will help, but if you've got the time, I'm sure it won't hurt.

Just got mine today. Not even going to post pics, as the ones I took don't do the thing justice at all. It is as Jeff says - almost holographic and three dimensional. It kinda screws with your eyes, trying to focus on it. I've never seen a piece like it, or even close.

Wait till you burnish.  About 2/3rds of mine literally looks like there is a glass top over a wood base.

I'm laboring over body choice.  I keep going back and forth between fancy and simple.  I'm close to going Sonic Blue, Olympic or Vintage White.  But, I also wanted to go ultra light and all the really light strat bodies have fancyish finishes.

I happen to have a vintage white VIP body here that I put it up against, and it's gorgeous! I got a buncha stuff going on at the moment, but I'll post a pic later.

Just showed up about a half hour ago. Haven't opened it up yet; doctor's still here.

I've been going back and forth between simple and fancy ...  I'm leaning this way right now.
