Roasted Flame Maple Neck

Just received the Roasted Flame Maple neck.  I managed to get one of the 4 from the Facebook post.  What the pictures can't convey is how awesome the hologram/3d looks.  It gives an extremely deep looking finish .. even though it is unfinished.  Simply beautiful.

The problem is now narrowing down the body to go with it.  A couple of the flame tops that have gone by recently would go nicely.

Nice score! There are some nice examples in the showcase now but those 4 were a bit special.

I was thinking that the black-orange-clear burst Strat in the screamin' deals section would go nicely with roasted maple.

I would think that neck would look spectacular on a solid candy color - any one would do. Their pictures don't do the candy finishes justice - they're absolutely stunning in real life. Something like that, with no features or grain to draw the eye away from the neck would be one for the books.

No, not even ship notification yet. But, I asked for the headstock to be recut to a Warhead, so it has to make another trip through the shop. No frets, though, so I expect it'll get wheels under it any day now.

I'm thinking about that body too and will have to clean up the drool in a minute. No danger of me actually buying it though so I say do it, or maybe DO IT! I think the Warhead will suit it very well too.

I've been going back and forth between simple and fancy ...  I'm leaning this way right now.

I love that body. Had a similar one myself for several years...

However, I'm not sure it's a good match for that super-fancy neck. To me, a fancy neck goes on a plain body, and vice-versa. Otherwise, it's kinda like wearing a plaid shirt with striped pants. The eye doesn't know what to do with itself.  It just seems like if you have a part screaming for attention, you don't want any other distractions. But, that's just me.

The other thing is super-fancy bodies like that tend to end up being wallflowers, at least around here. You don't dare touch 'em for fear of the dreaded blemish. But again, that's just me.
