Roasted Flame Maple Neck under way

That is really sharp!  Love the pick-guard, as well.  Definitely unique and fits with the overall vibe of the guitar.  :icon_thumright:

Thanks for the positive feedback.  Still no shipping notice for the PUPs.  I'm probably on a long waiting list for the White Blackhawks.  In the mean time I've been considering various wiring options.  So far I'm thinking for a standard autosplit in 2/4 with 2 tone controls.  But, I'm also considering getting a midboost circuit and use the center tone control for that.  I've never had one and the reviews are anywhere from OMG to WTF, so like a lot of things it's down to personal taste and how it works with the each guitar.  Finally, I'm thinking about a kill switch just for fun.

woohoo .. Pickups on the way! :party07:  Unfortunately I have meetings in Reston VA next week.  So it will probably be next weekend before I get round to installed.

Finally had some time to get to the wiring.  Just need to do the bridge, tone pot, jack and ground wiring.  Maybe get to that tonight or tomorrow.  So close yet so far.

And she plays.  One thing is that compared to the other strats I have, this thing is HOT.  I'll have to get used to that.  But, the middle position is killer.

That really worked out well. I'd have never made those choices, but the end result proves you had a good vision. Congrats! I'm sure you're going to be happy with that one for a long time.

Thanks Cagey, if you recall I agonized over each component choice.  I'm now really glad I went with a simple single color on the body.  The burgandy and yellow in the pickguard really bring out the color of the neck.  Basically I got really lucky that it all looks great and still sounds great.  Obviously looks are subjective so it won't please everyone, but this is as close to what I hoped as I can get.

One small problem is that the volume knob sits too high and makes it hard to use the vibrato in the position I normally hold it.  LOL, if it isn't one thing, it's another.

Your attention to detail is apparent in the finished product: A beautiful, unique instrument. Congratulations, I'm glad you vision is realized.

lol frank, this is the setup with the painful wiring.  It was a total PITA.  And as usual, the alternate sounds are ok, but not worth the hassle.  The main tone for this thing is actually middle position.  It's like this guitars magic spot.
