The thing that amazed me about Pastorius' life was the way he kept heading for disaster all the time. Appeared to be one of those very talented musos who had no concept of living a long life.

Then there was the story about living in Florida and his bass falling to pieces! And the other time about being so stoned he left it in the park (in NY?), only to be later reclaimed by his family after he had passed when the person who had it tried to sell it. Or something like that????  :icon_scratch:

His style of music was definitely not mine, but I do appreciate the way he mastered the Jazz Bass like no other.

His ego is definitely why he is no longer with us, IMO.  The whole. "Don't you know who I am, the rules don't apply to me" attitude got him beaten by a bouncer and later died due to those injuries.  He probably was the best bass player ever, of course those are also his words.

"It ain't bragging if you can back it up!"  :icon_biggrin:

But yeah, his personality did lead to a lot of trouble.
