Replacing pickup covers

Following the advice of you lot here at UW I've decided to change the colour of my pickguard and covers on my Warmoth Strat.

Does anybody here have experience of changing pickup covers? Is it a case of the covers will just slide off or is there more to it?

Any help or experience would be really appreciated, even if they do just slide off, I'd like to know

If your pickups are Strat type single coils, the covers are like caps that fit over the top of the pickups held in place to the pickguard by the mounting screws and springs.  In your description, they just slide off.  If your pickups are covered humbuckers, you may have to melt the solder joints at the base of the pickups to remove the covers.

brilliant! - they're only single coils so sounds like even i could do that.

May actually attempt this change myself!

just to elaborate on this - many humbuckers come wax potted so may take a little more work to remove, and indeed need re-wax potting if you are putting a metal cover back on

but yeah, single coils covers are just plastic so its a real easy swap
