My first build

Body - was a showcase special deal, I wasn't even shopping for the body, but couldn't pass it up:
Chambered mahogany Strat
Olympic white
Contoured heel

Neck
Goncalo Alves with Pau Ferro fretboard
6105 nickel frets
10-16" radius
Wizard profile

Will install tortoise-shell pick guard + Bareknuckle HSS pickup set (Mule / Mother's Milk) + Wilkinson VS100 trem + LSR roller nut + Sperzel locking tuners

Always name my guitars after cartoon characters, and Doug made me a neck plate with an image of 'Ren' (Ren & Stimpy).

Waiting for Stu-Mac order to arrive so I can work on the neck, dress frets and sand the the back down to 2000 grit. Will post finished pics when it's all done.

That's gonna be an excellent axe! I would've done the stainless frets, but I'm sure it'll be fine for a while anyway.

I hear ya - I'm not too fond of the stainless frets though, I have stainless frets on my Parker... don't ask me why, I have no valid reason for it. I guess mentally I think of nickel frets like an old comfy sofa, and stainless like a hard, cold leather couch in some uptown yuppie studio apartment. Just hard for me to get that mental block out of my head, no matter how much logic tells me otherwise.

BTW Cagey - your posts on this forum have been invaluable, and a great source of info surrounding this guitar purchase / build - thank you!

A lot of people get a bad impression of stainless frets by playing a Parker. I think it has something to do with the neck construction. Gives it a somewhat sterile sound. Has nothing to do with the frets.

I share your excitement.

I just started my 2nd build (a Strat), and can't wait to get it done (but my painter is holding me up).

I would have done it a little differently, but that is the entire reason we build these guitars, to get exactly what we want, the way we want it.

'Looking forward to seeing yours and mine finished.
