Remove Posting Access to the Suggestion Box except as follows:

1)  Only make it legitimately available to post in once you have exceeded 2000 posts.

2)  Only after you have been a member for at least 6 months or 1 year, to be determined by the forum administrator.

This will reduce the redundant posts by members that only have a handful of posts under their belt, and have had time to thoroughly "search" the forum for suggestions that have previously been submitted, as well as been given enough time to "learn" the Warmoth way.

I second the proposal for consideration.

2000 posts may be a little high though. So perhaps 1 or 2 rather than 1 and 2 with a revised post count.

The forum administration/configuration software doesn't allow for that level of discrimination. It could be done manually, but it would mean removing everyone's permission to post there, then selectively giving it back based on the ruleset described. With 14,000+ members, that all by itself would be quite an undertaking, but then as time went on, unless admins monitored a list of thousands of members daily and awarded permission as it was earned, then those who wanted permission to post would have to keep track themselves and ask for permission when they finally qualified.

The cure sounds much worse than the disease.

The Warmoth community has got to be one the most toxic places and environments I've ever seen from a group of musicians.  Kicked any homeless people lately?

Since we're broaching the subject, how many hours of research on the unofficial forums and posts do I need before Warmoth will accept my money for their guitar and bass parts?

I don't think that attitude is present here at all - quite the opposite. It's one of the more helpful, tolerant, talented and entertaining forums I've ever had the pleasure to participate in.

But, as with any group of people, you're going to have varying amounts of those qualities. So, sometimes you may see an opinion you won't agree with in all or part.

The proper response is to argue your own point of view, not attack the original presenter. Everyone is to be treated with courtesy and respect. If that isn't an acceptable behavior for you, then perhaps this isn't the kind of forum you're used to and you should find one more suitable to your tastes.

In the meantime, you may rest assured that another post with the kind of language and ad hominem attacks as was present in the above post will result in a loss of posting privileges.

I have to disagree with the previous poster (or rather the one before that as it turns out); Unofficial Warmoth is probably the most polite and “well-mannered” internet forum I have ever encountered. That said, I’ve been a member for 5 years and have built many Warmoth creations but have not yet reached 2000 posts. That certainly seems like a high bar.

Personally, as the marketing guy for Warmoth, and the guy who helps design the Warmoth website, I would say the opinions of "people who haven't spent hundred of hours on here", and don't know the "Warmoth way" are worth more.


Most here are friendly, and eager to share and help. However, the sheer complexity of Warmoth products can sometimes create a disconnect between those who know the ins and out of it, and those who don't. A little patience is required on both sides.


That said, ad hominem attacks are never cool.

It does seem a high bar -VB- which is why I suggested a different number or options than TFS first suggested.

I do not think anyone was targeting ltwhite or condescending in any way towards him in this thread or anywhere else.

However, we do have often suggestions being made that are just not that simple for a company to make as some would like to think. Once someone has been on the forum for a while they are usually aware of that. This is what I think TFS was getting at and not that someone had to be schooled into what their opinion should or should not be. He was just trying to find a way to reduce the number of suggestions seen to sensible proportions.

There are many newer members who make valuable contributions and are valued. Some of them continue to be long term members. Some post more than others and some less but either way this is a friendly community.

Peoples opinions are valued and respected on this forum from day one. Many have made excellent comments and suggestions in threads that all have benefited from.

Examples of workable suggestions are:

It would be great if paint color x were offered.
Any chance of an option for tuner holes with the two pin holes for Fender tuners?
Any chance of offering timber x as a wood option?
Are Warmoth going to consider offering spoke wheel adjustments on necks similar to the new Fenders at any time?

Examples of less workable suggestions:

Warmoth should offer a 27 fret neck with carbon rods and a vintage truss rod. Provide a new body shape in fifteen minutes or less and let the user scan a diagram, send it in with their order and that the CNC can just produce something just like that because everyone knows it can't be that difficult to programme and tool up for.

I meant no offense, and I didn't refer to the 1500-2000 posts as a rigid number, just simply some way of filtering so that the same topics don't repeatedly posted under new threads when there may already be an answer.

I've been a beta tester for Arturia for a few years and a user for many more than that, and still, every single post is approved by their mods before posting due to "flooding".

Just looking for a way of people having the info they need without having to post for it if they use the search function well is all.

My apologies to anyone I may have offended.
