Remove lacquer from stud mounts

Hi folks, I have a body from Warmoth that I am finishing up. I got it drilled for a vs100n tremelo and had the studs pressed in when I ordered the body. I went to screw in the studs today and they barely go anywhere. I dont want to force them as all videos of the vs100n they screw in easily by hand. I assume I have clear finish lacquer build up in there. What is the best way to remove the lacquer so the studs screw in freely?  Thanks in advance.

Have you tried slackening the adjustment internal set screw prior to trying to screw them in ?

See picture towards the bottom of this link.

It would be odd for bushings to be fitted prior to finishing.

I agree with Stratamania that it would be unusual for the studs to have been installed prior to finishing. Sounds kinda like a metric/imperial thread mixup to me. The studs for that bridge should have an M6 thread. Stop by a hardware and pick up 1 ea. of a 1/4-20 and 1/4-28 x 3/4" bolt. Won't cost you more than a quarter. If you can thread either into the bushings you have installed, then somehow they got mixed up at the factory with the ones you sent.
