I've got this 90's Epiphone Non-Reverse Thunderbird (think Mike Watt) that I picked up on a whim a few years back but doesn't get much use. I've never really been a huge fan of sunbursts, so I'm thinking of stripping and re-finishing in either Re-Ranch black, vintage cream, TV yellow or my girlfriend's choice of inca silver. Having never stripped a guitar finish before, I'm wondering whats the best method? Just a plain ol' sanding block and paper? I've spent a good 3-4 months trying to figure out what type of finish came on these, but I've yet to find any useful info. Body is mahogany, if that matters.
